Malachite Consulting has been involved with a number of projects and operations for the extraction, purification and production of LME deliverable cobalt metal. This experience includes pilot plant testwork, process design, due diligence, design reviews plus the commissioning and the operation of a cobalt refinery.

More recently Malachite Consulting has undertaken work on the extraction of cobalt from sulphide and oxide ores, using a variety of metallurgical processing techniques, with the objective of producing high grade intermediate product and very high purity Cobalt Sulphate Heptahydrate (CoSO₄.7H₂O) which would be suitable for direct sale to the lithium-ion rechargeable battery manufacturers.
